Exchange visitors must have their Form DS-2019 in their possession each time they enter the United States.

It is advised that all students make a copy of their DS-2019 for their records. If you lose your DS-2019, immediately contact your sponsor. They will ask the sponsor to generate a new form. Please note that the replacement form will not have the consulate and immigration stamps. It is always best if you DO NOT lose the original DS-2019.

** The DS-2019 is not valid without the J-1 Visa and the J-1 Visa is not valid without the DS-2019. You must keep the two together at all times
