La quinta inn suites Sharonville

I hope this is gonna be informative. I wanted to write in English to inform international students from different countries

I was work and travel student in la quinta inn suites sharonville for 3 months. I have attended this WAT programme to see American culture and lifestyle. I should say WAT in this hotel was just time losing for me.

I cannot blame hotel's management because they do not know What I was expecting, they just think I came to be a regular worker or immigrant.

I would like to begin with bad public transportation, Hotel is 15 miles far from downtown and to arrive dowtown there are 3 public transportation chooices.

BUS 67 moves once a day at 4.20 pm. There is no return from downtown.

23X goes to downtown between 6.12am and 8.15am 6 times a day. 23X return from downtown to hotel area between 3.45pm and 5.45pm. And only weekdays(no weekends). That means last bus is at 5.45 pm.

BUS78 moves every 30 minutes but you have to walk to bus stop 2 miles(3.6 km)from hotel.

if you want to use Taxi, you are gonna be charged 35 dollars for 15 miles.

Furthermore, during crowded days I worked max. 40 hours a week, although job offer says minumum working hours a week is 32 hours, Hotel management sometimes forced me to work less than 30 hour.

Well! considering cultural exchange experience money is not important but as I mentioned in previous sentences, around hotel there is no place to spend time. Students from Turkey pay almost 3000 dollars or more to have WAT experience but in this hotel you may save max 1800 dollars in 3 months without any social activity.(8.75 dollars/hour, 75 dollars accomadation plus food taxes).

I would like to emphasize, My bad opinions is not because of homesickness. I have been more than 10 countries and lived in several of them. I just want to warn students who are gonna come here.

United States is great county considering Universities and life standards. However, in sharonville working for la quinta is not gonna add anything for your career and for your english language skills. My sponsor company was Alliance abroad Group who has collaboration with oxford house college in Turkey. I wanted to change and see other job offers several times but they just gave some advises to stay here more.

I wish I did not come here.

If you want to still come here my advice, you should bring some more money like 1500 dollars to buy a car but really old one. So you may be more free. You should know procedures of buying a car in the US.

There is a 15-20 meters swimming pool in the hotel.

Anyway everyweek you have 2 days off which means in 10 weeks totally 20 days. You may work 2 months and save 1200 dollars and travel new york city in your last month. Obviously this money is not gonna be enough during one month travlling in NYC.
