. Effective October 27, 2008, SEVIS fees for F, M, and J travelers and sponsoring schools will be increased. SEVIS Fees for nonimmigrant (F and M) students will increase from 100 to 200 US Dollars, and SEVIS fees for most exchange visitor (J) travelers will increase from 100 to 180 US Dollars. Au Pairs, Camp Counselors, and Summer Work/Travel J visa travelers will continue to pay a reduced SEVIS fee of 35 US Dollars. Government-sponsored exchange visitors continue to be exempt from the SEVIS fee. Dependents of F, M, and J applicants do not need to pay the SEVIS fee.

* F, M, and J applicants who paid their SEVIS fee before October 27 do not need to pay the higher amount, even if they have not traveled or applied for a visa by that date.
* The worldwide visa application fee remains unchanged at 131 US Dollars.
